Allan Sansome

What do I do around here? Writer

I’ve been playing fantasy football in some guise for about 30 years and became fascinated by it in about 1992 after discovering a book detailing scoring systems and strategy in a bargain bin of a Florida book store.

The wave of fantasy football in the UK in the mid 90s meant a kick up in UK newspaper leagues and kept the obsession alive until the internet allowed for UK fans to really get into the game. I think the first teams I had were on Yahoo in 2005 but that could be +/- a couple of years.

I’ve got way too many teams, am obsessed with trading and spend way too much time trying to improve my rosters but it’s more or less the perfect hobby for someone who spends about 40% of their life on the road!

I’ve been writing for Kickers Matter for about 18 months but I want to be clear – I’m not an expert and you really shouldn’t listen to me.

Outside of fantasy and the NFL, I’m a fan of Airdrieonians and Leeds United and when I get the odd minute I’m an avid reader, especially of history books. You’ll find me on Twitter, complaining a lot @allansansome.
